Working Conference on

Academic Research and Professional Practice in Interaction Design

10-11 July 2025 (hybrid)

London, UK – University of West London

Confirmed Guest Speakers: Elizabeth Churchill and Tony Russell Rose

The Academic Research and Professional Practice in Interaction Design (ARPPID) working conference is a new forum to explore the existing and possible connections between academic research and industrial practices in interaction design. This first ARPPID appointment aims at providing a platform for theoretical interaction design to meet practical applications, boosting the exchange of ideas and experiences between scholars and professionals.

ARPPID 2025 builds upon the emerging discussions raised during academic and professional conferences in the field (UXPA, CHI, INTERACT), highlighting the need for cooperation, challenges, needs, and best practices across academia and industry. By expanding on these themes, ARPPID looks at boosting the dialogue among practitioners and reducing the gap between the academia and industry, to advance the field of interaction design via new practices.
